“We never wanted to be the biggest travel company, just the best.”
-George Butterfield
What is the B&R difference? Well, we certainly travel in style and comfort, but that’s not what makes our trips so memorable. The B&R difference is the best biking and walking routes in the world’s most incredible places. It's the most capable and genuinely interesting guides you'll find anywhere. It’s the most interesting hotels the region has to offer—and the best rooms in those hotels. It’s amazing culinary experiences, state-of-the-art equipment, great wines at dinner, a water bottle that’s always filled, route suggestions you won’t find in any guidebook, the B&R van popping up right when you need it… et cetera! Are you starting to get the picture?
Learn more about the B&R family, amazing moments you might have on your trip, the types of hotels you’ll stay in, and the victuals and libations you are likely to enjoy.

Peru 2010
“We just wanted to say thank you to your organization for providing a spectacular trip for us in May in Peru. Tyler did a perfect job; he was fun, very well organized, friendly with everyone and provided a feeling that we were in safe hands, especially on the hikes. I was very grateful. The whole trip was perfectly designed, the hikes were interesting and challenging (I was so pleased that I could do them and made me feel invigorated), the accommodations were fantastic especially Sol Luna and spending the day on the beautiful Peruvian horses was a treat. The food was delicious, the was group outstanding and the climb into Machu Picchu was exhilarating—so glad we did it. So BRAVO to all of you, we are certainly recommending this to friends and it was the best trip of our lives!”

Rwanda Places on the Verge 2011
"An unforgettable trip in a country with a turbulent past and a bright future–made possible by the incredible Rwandans we encountered during the trip. Africa seen differently."

Peru Walking 2010
“I would tell another traveller that this was possibly the most transformational travel experience that I ever had. The natural beauty is awesome on steroids! The Peruvian peoples’ deep respect for Mother Earth along with their kindness and humility was remarkable. Most impressive on B&R’s part was conquering the logistics of avoiding crowds both in Macchu Pichhu and along the Inca Trail. The result of this careful planning and research was an experience beyond my greatest expectation. Both Tyler and Ana were excellent guides along with their Peruvian counterparts. Their experience and knowledge was extraordinary. My best B&R moment was entering the Sun Gate after a long day on the trail—a dream come true for me—and Tyler, with champagne in hand to greet us!”

The Tour Biking 2010
“This trip was amazing—I wish I was still on it now. I was told it was going to be great by others who have done B&R trips but it was still better than where my expectations were set. My Tour de France trip was the perfect mix of quality riding, live exposure to the race, and all the other experiences including the hotels, meals, support, sites, and other travellers. The bike routes were the highlight for me. Without the trip planning and guides, there is no way to ride the phenomenal routes we did—particularly riding to and from the Col de Painhere—incredible!”

New & Improved Trips for 2012:
Augusta Masters Golf
Imagine rolling into the fabled Masters Tournament at Augusta National golf course while being supported by your own police convoy. Then, after witnessing history unfold, let your own Green Jacket fantasies play out on the challenging, grandiose Cuscowilla golf course, which features almost as many elevation and scenery changes as Augusta National. Cap the weekend with another quick nine holes—or simply stretch out in your roomy private villa overlooking Georgia’s Lake Country and reflect on the weekend’s memories.
Corsica Walking
What would you expect of a place that is situated between the French Riviera and the coast of Tuscany? The best of both worlds: winding cobblestone alleys, stunning seaside scenery and delectable cuisine. The best way to get to know the real Corsica is on foot. We’ve discovered some pretty inspiring nooks and crannies that way, not to mention mountain, village and seaside walks punctuated by quiet cove swims, charming cafés and elegant hotels.
Costa Rica Family
Multi-Active
Costa Rica is a showcase for biodiversity and we make sure that you see as much of this beautiful country as possible—from the spectacular Central Valley and Highlands, where our hotel is surrounded by 500 acres of tropical forest; and gorgeous Guanacaste, where the Nicoya Peninsula provides just the right seaside finale. But you don’t just see it all—we make sure you do it all, too. Hike with naturalists through primary rain forests, whitewater raft, take surfing lessons, go ziplining and kayaking, explore dormant volcanoes, and along the way make a host of new friends.
Costa Rica Multi-Active Costa Rica is an explorer’s paradise: everywhere one looks is living, breathing, humming nature. B&R ensures you experience the best of Costa Rica’s natural beauty: through active exploration by air, land and sea. We take you to two entirely different areas of the country: the spectacular Central Valley and Highlands, and gorgeous Guanacaste, where the Nicoya Peninsula provides just the right seaside finale. Hike with naturalists through primary rain forests, whitewater raft, take surfing lessons, go ziplining and kayaking, explore dormant volcanoes, and along the way make a host of new friends…then retire to the spa. Phew!
Normandy Biking
To many, Normandy is all about June 6, 1944. Although that momentous date was formative to the region's character, this area stands guard over the English Channel and is multi-faceted beyond the Allied invasion. Here, you will find colourful, vibrant seafront towns, soaring abbeys, horse farms and gustatory specialties like the famed Camembert cheese and the sweet, potent Calvados liqueur. Layer on exceptional biking on quiet coastal roads and hedge-lined interior byways, and everything is there for your own Norman conquest.
Rioja Biking
From National Parks to award-winning vineyards, the ever-changing landscapes of this part of Spain are often as dramatic and inspiring as the hotels you'll find here. The combination of cutting-edge design juxtaposed with old-world, rural living makes for amazing results. Whilst the wines of La Rioja are world-renowned, less well-known but equally as impressive is the cuisine, which is sure to delight. Mix into this some truly spectacular and varied riding—and the draw to this region should be obvious to all.
Rwanda Walking
Rwanda has made incredible strides since its virtual implosion in 1994. Its cities boast broad, newly paved boulevards lined with flowerbeds and parkland. There is not a single speck of litter to be seen, no garbage, no filth, and yet it is still Africa to the core, with colourful costumes, music, and vibrant markets and busy storefronts all around. Immaculate villages and lush fields abound, verdant tea plantations spread over the hilly countryside: everything is green and growing. It is the ‘land of a thousand hills,’ ever-green and ever-temperate due to its mile-high elevation and home of course to the endangered Silverback Gorillas.
Tuscany Self-Guided Walking
Love your independence but don’t want to be totally on your own? A B&R self-guided walking trip is just the ticket. It combines the hallmarks of any B&R itinerary—excellent hotels and beautiful walking routes—with the freedom of pacing each day exactly the way you like. We arrange some can’t miss meals and events, transfer your bags and equip you with all the information you’ll need to craft the trip you desire. A morning browsing the shops, or an extra trail loop; take-away pizza or a gourmet lunch; a walking tour of historic Cortona or relaxing in a piazza; the choices are yours. Call it structured independence in B&R style.
Umbria Walking
Although Umbria’s landlocked position makes it a little more difficult to reach, its hallowed grounds, lush river valleys and historical architecture make it worth the effort. Here, you will find Spoleto, once a key military outpost for the Roman army; the eponymous hometown of St. Francis of Assisi; Umbria’s “green heart,” through which the Tiber River flows; the wine country of Montefalco and so much more. Umbria’s proud national spirit has been imbued into the bricks of the very hotels at which you’ll be staying.
Vietnam to Cambodia Family Biking
Your kids will have plenty of company in Vietnam and Cambodia. Everywhere we go, we encounter children eager to make friends with the foreigners on the shiny bikes. That disarming friendliness permeates all aspects of life here, whether we’re riding elephants through Angkor Wat, touring Hanoi’s Old Quarter with a helpful guide, gaping at bemused water buffalo from the side of the road or stopping to chat with the townsfolk as we ride through the small villages along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
