"Tour" in France and Iceland Places on the Verge
|
|
Toronto, Canada, December 03, 2009 – Only moments after the official route of the 2010 Tour was released, B&R's team was hard at work creating two memorable trips for the avid cyclist and Tour aficionado.
George Butterfield is the driving force behind our annual Places on the Verge (POV) trips. In 2008 he led a trip along with renowned photographer Edward Burtynsky to the Alberta Tar Sands. In 2009, with Celine Cousteau, B&R travelled along the Amazon in Peru. In 2010 we return to an area we know well to explore the effects of climate change.

The First Luxury Biking Trip to Jordan!
|
B&R Inaugural Jordan Biking Trip October 7-15 2010

It is with great anticipation that Butterfield & Robinson looks ahead to the prospect of saddling up and riding through the Kingdom of Jordan in 2010.
“We intend to give B&R travellers an unprecedented look at this ancient land: its significant Christian historical sites, stunning landscapes, welcoming spirit and wealth of culture, which together with B&R’s distinctive active itinerary provides visitors a unique experience that few others will ever enjoy,” says company founder George Butterfield.
- Cycle from Amman in the north down to Aqaba on the Red Sea, roll through the fertile Jordan River Valley, visit Roman ruins and the significant archaeological site, Bethany-beyond-the-Jordan; the supposed baptismal site of Jesus.
- We ride into the desert where we ascend to the peak of Mt. Nebo where it is believed Moses gazed out upon the Promised Land; enjoy a descent to the shores of the Dead Sea, where we’ll float in the salty waters and bask in its mineral-enriched, rejuvenating qualities.
- Pedal past towering rock formations and Crusader castles on our way to the extraordinary ancient city of Petra.
- Explore by Land Cruisers and camel back, arriving in Wadi Rum—made famous by Lawrence of Arabia—before heading further into the desert for an evening camped out under the stars.
- We wrap up in the resort town of Aqaba where you may choose to carry on your adventures or simply recline and marvel at all that you’ve just seen, tasted, touched and heard.
October 7-15 2010: Price per person based on double occupancy US$9,995, for more details check out www.butterfield.com Filling fast!
