Great Hotels
Great hotels; a hallmark of B&R
A journey shouldn’t end at the door to your room. Our hotels? They often aren’t hotels—at least not originally. What they are (besides exceptional) depends on where you are. But whether intimate lodge, architectural gem, or mind-blowing castle, our hotels are unique, exclusive, eminently local and hard to leave. Capturing the most authentic expression of the spirit of a place, our hotels are above all the right place to stay for the destination—to stay anywhere else would be to miss an essential piece of where you are.

Some of Our Friends
Torre del RemeiSeñor Josep-Maria & Señora Loles Boix,
Hotel Torre del Remei
Catalonia Biking & Catalonia With the Kids
When you arrive at the Torre del Remei, you will likely be welcomed at the entrance by proud owner Señor Boix clad in his chef whites. He and his wife are incredibly gracious hosts to B&R, and we love working with their attentive and warm staff. The Relais & Châteaux property is also their home and its gardens offer many of the ingredients you’ll find dining here. Eating local is fundamental to Señor Boix, his kitchen is supplied by local farmers and when in season, wild mushrooms grown in the shadows of the Pyrénées will find their way onto your plate. The building itself is a lovely modernist chateau, which they transformed into an intimate and luxurious hotel.
Villa Tiboldi Patrizia & Roberto Damonte
Piemonte Biking & Piemonte Walking
Built in the 1750s Villa Tiboldi sat empty for 40 years before the Damonte family painstakingly rebuilt the neglected property—taking four years to do it. Today Massimo spends his time in the vines, while brother Roberto with his wife Patrizia manage Villa Tiboldi. With only 13 rooms, staying here is like being invited to a friend’s place. A friend with a great cellar. And gorgeous vineyards. And a pool in the vineyards. And a private chef who learned about Piemontese fresh egg pastas from his nonna. Topping it off, their vineyards just happen to produce some of the area’s most acclaimed wines.
Hotel LeSirenuse Antonio Sersale,
Le Sirenuse
Amalfi Coast Walking
A living legend among Italian hoteliers, Antonio is the general manager of Le Sirenuse, a Leading Small Hotel of the World with breathtaking views of the cliffs of Positano on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. The property has a special meaning for him; originally a summer home, it was in his family for generations prior to its conversion to a hotel in 1951. As such, he knows all the best walking routes (including a few he reserves just for us). Under his stewardship, Le Sirenuse has garnered dozens of accolades (including Condé Nast Travelers “world’s best hotel” title), but our kinship with Antonio (as well as the fact that we’re the only active travel company he invites to stay) is what keeps us coming back.
Hotel Bussiere Clive & Tanith Cummings, Abbaye de la Bussière
Burgundy Biking & Burgundy Walking
After earning international acclaim for their refurbishment of West Sussexs glorious Amberley Castle, expat Brits Clive and Tanith crossed the Channel for their next restoration project: a 900-year-old medieval castle turned Cistercian monastery deep in the heart of Burgundy’s Ouche Valley. The results of their four-year effort? The utterly spectacular Abbaye de la Bussière—a gorgeous country-house hotel set amid 18 acres of parkland. In 2007, the hotel joined the esteemed Relais & Châteaux group while its restaurant—under talented young chef Olivier Elzer—earned its first Michelin star. When the Cummingses are involved, it’s not a restoration; it’s a renewal.
Some of our Great Hotels

Six Senses Hideaway Ninh Van Bay Vietnam
Six Senses Hideaway Ninh Van Bay, Ninh Van Bay, Vietnam
Vietnam Biking & Vietnam Walking
Hugging the striking shores of Vietnam’s Ninh Van Bay, the Six Senses Hideaway lives as comfortably within its natural environment as its guests do in its luxurious suites. Accessible only by water, the hotel’s villas are scattered throughout the property, perched on the rocks overlooking the bay or tucked away amongst the hills. Once you’ve laid eyes on the sublime mountain vistas, dipped a toe in the tranquil waters of the South China Sea, refreshed yourself in your private outdoor shower, and walked the white-sand beaches, you’ll be hard pressed to think of a better (or more peaceful) site anywhere.

Masseria Torre Maizza, Savelletri, Italy
Masseria Torre Maizza, Savelletri, Italy
Puglia Biking
Hidden away amongst the vineyards and olive groves of Puglia, the Torre Maizza is an oasis of calm in an already laidback swath of Italy. Situated on the outskirts of medieval Ostuni and less than 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) from the Mediterranean coast, this former army garrison and watchtower has been converted into a chic and sharp-looking five-star hotel, complete with its own organic garden and a fully-appointed Aveda spa. There’s definitely something in the air here (hint: it’s the intoxicating scents of myrtle and jasmine). The clincher: if the Maizza isn’t “away from it all” enough, the hotel’s private beach club is just a 15-minute bike ride away.
